D4D exists to fill in the gaps in the system of distributing Durable Medical Equipment (DME). Some of these are gaps that insurance is slow to fill. Having to wait weeks for the right piece of equipment can result in injury. For example, Katherine writes:
“I would like to thank Ms. Meisha Robinson and St. Philip Neri Church for helping me with your Free Medical Equipment Program. I have been waiting for insurance to approve me with no luck. You all have immediately blessed me with a power scooter! Now I can move around a lot better. I can get my 10-year-old child from school and go to the corner store when I need to. This scooter can help me to move around, get outside and get some fresh air. Thank you so much for helping me!”
D4D supplies St. Philip Neri Church on Chicago’s South Side with wheelchairs and other medical equipment, including Ms. Burton’s scooter. We wish her the best and pass along our thanks to Meisha Robinson too!
